Bobbi Sinha-Morey writes

Tenth of April

Early April I saw a pair
of silver magnolia leaves
rise into the wind, airborne,
tumbling, arcing, gliding
over the lake water before
grazing its surface, floating
westward under the sky
and the opening of budding
jasmine making the evening
air tremble like a drum,
a flame of life warming its
center like the sun, petals
so faintly white in their
shyness I oh so modestly
touch them with the bare
skin of my thumb. I breathe
in their purified scent, the
cool grace of the heavens.
