Wigard Levering moved from Mülheim an der Ruhr in Westfalen to William Penn's new colony in 1685 and obtained 500 acres of farmland in what became Roxborough, Pennsylvania, in 1691. after 1744 part of the farm was known as the Roxborough Burial Ground, which was incorporated in 1857 as the Leverington Cemetery Company.
